Getting Ready For Prom - A Girls Guide
By Heidi Ball

Prom GirlIn the life of a high school girl, nothing is quite as exciting as the prospect of going to prom. It's all about dressing up, spending the evening with great friends and dancing the night away with the guy of your dreams. The anticipation of the evening is spectacular, and as long as you have everything planned out and pulled together, the night will be perfect.

Prom can equal big bucks. If you know you'll be going to prom, it isn't a bad idea to start saving money months before the fact, just to insure that you'll have enough cash for important purchases.

Well in advance it is wise to find your dress and accessories. As prom draws closer, the selection dwindles. The dress of your dreams might not be available should you wait until the last minute. Break in your shoes before wearing them. There's nothing worse than having sore feet from shoes that are new, so if you buy them a few weeks in advance, you can wear them around a bit so they're not quite as snug.

Prom GirlLet your date know what color you are wearing so he can make an effort to match. This way you're assured that you'll get a corsage that matches your dress as well, and your date won't look thrown together.

Prom GirlDecide if you want to go in a group or not. Group reservations need to be made in advance so that the restaurant can accommodate a large number of people. Generally speaking, your date should be in charge of dinner and the logistics of it, but it's better to ask what the plans are and make sure everything is working out in advance.

Prom GirlSet up appointments for nails and hair after being asked to prom. Go to the appointment knowing what you want your hair to look like. It is best to make the appointment with someone you've been to before so you know what you'll be getting. It's a good idea to bring your dress along so that your nail color won't clash when everything is put together. Call and confirm your appointments the day before just to make sure everything is ready to go.

As the day of prom rolls around, don't over schedule yourself. Keep the day pretty open and spend the day pampering and getting ready. Take a bubble bath. A bath verses a shower will help you relax and not be so nervous for the evening events. Make sure you've had a good nights sleep and that you have a good breakfast.

Most importantly, enjoy it! There are so few opportunities to dress up for a nice evening out.
